Description
Each fall, the Big Ten Academic Alliance (formerly the Committee on Institutional Cooperation; CIC) hosts a 3-day workshop for Department Executive Officers (DEOs). This seminar focuses on departmental leadership skills and problem-solving and emphasizes analysis of case studies.
The DEO Seminars are managed by Big Ten Academic Alliance office staff, and programming is developed by liaisons from the Offices of the Provosts across our universities. To read more about the seminars, visit the Big Ten Academic Alliance DEO webpage.
Participant Selection
Each year, MSU sends five chairs, school directors, or associate deans with similar responsibilities to attend this program. This year’s event will take place hybrid with a few initial virtual events and an in-person event in November at the Big Ten Center in Chicago. Potential participants need to have completed at least one year (but not more than 4 years) as a department chair, school director, or associate dean from a non-departmentally organized college.
The 2024 cohort has already been selected. A call for the 2025 cohort will be sent early in the spring semester.
