Michele Lanotte photoMichele (Mike) Lanotte is a Fixed-Term Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Environment and Land Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in Italy and completed postdoctoral work at Michigan State. Before joining MSU, he was an Assistant Professor at Khalifa University of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi.

His research focuses on pavement design and maintenance, life cycle assessment, green procurement strategies, and the reuse of recycled materials in civil engineering applications. He works with transportation agencies to develop practical approaches that improve infrastructure performance and sustainability. His work has been supported by competitive grants from various local and national sponsors.

At MSU, Mike teaches courses in statics and civil engineering materials. At Khalifa University, he taught transportation engineering, pavement design, and sustainability assessment. He advises graduate students and involves undergraduate students in research activities related to infrastructure materials and sustainability.
