Dr. Rebecca Malouin is Director of the Global Health Studies programs, Interim Director of the Canadian Studies Center, Director of Research in the Institute for Global Health and Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. She completed her Ph.D. and M.P.H. in International Health at Johns Hopkins University, a M.S. in Epidemiology at Michigan State, and a B.S. from the University of Michigan. Prior to pursing graduate studies, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Niger. She has served as a health services researcher and educator for the past two decades, studying the organization and delivery of primary care in the U.S. and other countries. More recently, Dr. Malouin has transitioned to an administrative role, supporting research and developing academic programs in global health at the Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine. Within MSU, she has served on the Athletic Council, the Faculty and Staff Travel Review Advisory Committee, the HealthTeam Quality Council, the ISP Consultative Committee and both departmental and college-level Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure Committees.
She was the recipient of the 2013 John K. Hudzik Emerging Leader in Advancing International Studies and Programs, and served as an Emerging Leaders Fellow in the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and an Emerging Engagement Scholar through the Engagement Scholarship Consortium. She also has served as associate editor of Family, Systems and Health and on study sections for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the American Association of University Women International Fellows, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the National Institutes of Health, the Health Resources and Services Administration, as well as international research panels for the governments of Israel, Singapore, and New Zealand.
