John M. Taylor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Genetics, and Immunology (MGI) in the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). Since 2020, he has taught immunology and infectious diseases for multiple pre-clerkship courses within the D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) degree program. He has been the course-director for MMG 531, Medical Immunology, and is currently the course co-director for OST 520, the foundational biomedical science course within the College’s D.O. curriculum. John is also the current immunology Thread Director for the COM, and has served as the College’s Curriculum Committee co-chair for the past two years.
John earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, where his research focused on how viruses evade the human immune response. Currently he is collaborating on multiple projects at MSU-COM investigating how academic backgrounds, teaching opportunities, and asynchronous content engagement can impact medical student success.
