It’s a new year and time to take advantage of OFASD services and subscriptions. To expand resources for academic staff, postdocs and graduate students, MSU provides an institutional membership for the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity. The National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community for faculty members, academic staff, postdocs, and graduate students. Of particular interest is NCFDD’s dissertation success program, its faculty success program and on-demand mentoring communities that augment mentoring resources. The Dear Mentor newsletter and the submit a question to a mentor features are helpful to fostering inclusive and supportive environments for people new to the profession or people advancing in their careers.

MSU’s institutional membership with NCFDD includes access to the Monday Motivator, the Professor-ing Podcast, writing groups, online modules and webinars on everything related to academic life. NCFDD’s focus is thriving in academia and touches on the four cornerstones of strategic planning, explosive productivity, healthy relationships and work-life balance.
