The Office of Research Facilitation and Dissemination (ORFD), a unit of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation, supports faculty and academic researchers in their pursuit of grant funding and research development. This office offers a variety of resources and events open to the university community including:
Community Coffee Breaks
ORFD hosts a monthly Coffee Break seminar series during the academic year to provide new and early career faculty with information about available research and grant funding resources at MSU. A video library of previous Coffee Break seminars, including a recent seminar about finding funding opportunities using resources such as MSU Scholars and the Foundation Directory Online Professional, is also available for MSU faculty. Spring 2020 seminars topics will be announced soon on their event calendar.
Workshop on Writing Winning Grants
In May 2020, ORFD will host a full day Write Winning Grants workshop, presented by John Robertson from Grant Writers’ Seminars & Workshops. The seminar will comprehensively address both practical and conceptual aspects that are important to writing competitive grant proposals, and faculty who are new to grant writing are highly encouraged to attend. Consulting Services
The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation provides numerous grant preparation services for faculty through the Office of Research Facilitation and Dissemination, and the VPRI Special Consulting Services. These services provide faculty members help with project management, peer review coordination, grant editing, first draft review, and assistance with writing. Additionally, consultants with expertise particularly with NSF and NIH proposals are on campus regularly and will meet individually with researchers preparing proposals.
